“Dance like nobody’s watching…” - Mark Twain
What a weekend! Hope you had a fun Halloween full of candy and decorations. The YourVersion team had a blast on Saturday at the UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business for PLAY: The Berkeley Digital Media Conference. It may have been overcast with a little rain outside, but it was a party in Andersen Auditorium as we listened to great speakers like Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired Magazine and Michael Johnson, Moving Pictures Group Lead at Pixar. We even got a chance to play with the Microsoft Kinect demo hosted by Richard Velazquez.
We had a great time and enjoyed demoing the YourVersion website and our free iPad, iPhone and Android apps to conference attendees as well as getting some good feedback about our products. We enjoyed seeing Vator CEO and Founder, Bambi Francisco Roizen, once again and showing her the latest YourVersion updates. We always value getting the opportunity to introduce people to YourVersion as well as meeting current members of the YourVersion community and hearing their feedback. We really appreciate YourVersion iPad App power-user Miguel Martinez stopping by our demo table to say hello and give us his valuable feedback. Big thanks to UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business for hosting the event!
Crank That Dan Olsen
Arguably, the most anticipated moment of the day was the raffle to win a brand new Halo: Reach Xbox 360 bundle. All day, conference attendees were testing out the new Microsoft Kinect hardware playing games like table tennis, volleyball and Dance Central. Attendees were told to tweet at Richard Velazquez to enter the raffle but then he added a twist; he decided to select two attendees for the raffle and have them do a dance-off on the Kinect Dance Central game to determine the winner. Whichever, participant had the higher score would win the Halo: Reach Xbox 360 bundle.
We were stoked to hear our CEO and Co-founder, Dan Olsen, randomly selected as one of the participants for the dance-off! The song chosen for the dance-off was “Crank That Soulja Boy” by Soulja Boy and Dan was determined to win!
Thanks again to Rich and Microsoft. We are huge Halo fans!
